MacArthur pushed for nukes in Korea, the more I think about it the more I wonder what the use of tactical howitzer delivered nukes of the day could have been used in Vietnam and if they likely would have been used to win the war.
In Watchmen they used Dr Manhattan as the symbolism that Nixon nuked Vietnam and held on for 5 terms.
The "Free World" forces already had a massive firepower advantage which the VC and NVA basically just sidestepped by systematic use of "Fabian tactics" and carefully metering their operational tempo, while the collateral damage did wonders to discredit the effort in both South Vietnam and abroad.
I'm quite failing to see how turning swathes of *South Vietnamese* soil into irradiated ash for no very meaningful tactical advantage would have done much anything to remedy the fundamental problems.

Scary shit.
Not sure we are talking about south vietnam soil if used in that manner.
Deploy tactical nukes to fire as close to the front line as possible to a target in North Vietnam….
I’m surprised that considering the horror unleashed the US stopped at conventional weapons.
